(c) To obtain legislation compelling all ireezing worKs to graue up to a uniform Government standard, and t.o have the meat valued at Homeby the High Commissioner's stall' in the same manner that butter and cheese are now graded and valued, (d) That it be a request front this meeting to the president. of the Farmers' Union of tiie Dominion asking him to have tliis resolution brought before all the branches or Farmers' Cnions throughout the dominion, and asking them to support the same." The letter gave ris'e t.o a short dis- , cussion, and tiie preponderance of opinion was in favor of freezing companies being compelled 'to grade up to a uniform standard set by the Government •and tnat the meat should be valued at Home by the High Commissioner's stall in the same manner as was done in regard to the dairying produce sent from the Dominion. Members appeared to 'be in agreement that the other suggestions of the Gisbome meeting would be of benefit, to the farmers if tlley could be carried out in a practical way. but they considered there was some difficulty in that being done, especially in regard to regulating the supply to the Old Country. GIIADIXG OF WOOL. In the course of the discussion Air. Virgin referred to the necessity for steps being taken to have wool graded, and - he said lie would like to see that added to the resolution of the Gisborne J branch. Those • present all agreed that it would be a good tiling to have a standard grade for wool, but the question was, could this 'be done? The meeting, while unanimous that a standard grading of wool was desirable, could not ■ make up their minds as to the Lest way to have it carried out. There would be a difficulty in grading the wool iu bales owing to the fact that there w oftentimes some twenty different grades in one bale. The grading, apparently, would have to be carried out before the wool was baled. No action was taken in regard to the wool, and eventually Air. Lanibie moved, That this executive heartily endorses that part of the resolution dealing .with grading, but it sees some difficulty in carrying out the other provisions of the resolution. Air. Murray seconded the motion, which was carried. ( LABOR MATTERS. A circular was received from the Dominion president (Air. J. i>. Wilson) in reference to a proposed organisation of sheepfarmers to deal with labor matters. The correspondence was taken in committee, and on resuming it was announced that the executive nad decided to reply to Air. Wilson that it was in sympathy with the movement, but that it wished to know whether it was suggested that a separate association of shcepowners should be formed in Taranaki. The passing of accounts was' the only other business. —Star.,
