BREAKWATER PROTECTION. The sum of £lO5 18s 4d has bjeii ■spent on this work during the yea l '. This is the first money spent on the protection since 1906. One thousand five hundred and sixty-six ■tons of stone have been u-ed in the protection. BREAKWATER EXTENSION. The sum of £7433 4s lOd has been expended under this heading during the .year, and a length of 06 feet has been completed. From this sum must, be ■deducted ,£378 10s, being the cost of 23 blocks at £l6 10s each on hand at the end of the year. This leaves the cost of the 90 feet at £7054 14s lOd, or ,£73 lis Sd per foot. This is £l9 13s .Gd per foot in excess of last year, .which will he accounted for by the greate r depth of water, requiring more stone, increased number of blocks owing to the insufficiency of large stone, and owing to this Boarfi having now stopped this work .the final sections had to be made of greater strength, and with additional protection. The total cost to the Board of the extension work has been £31,823 Gs 2d for a total length of 000 feet, averaging • £53 Qs !)d per foot. . The total length of the breakwater is now 2512 feet, or 192 feet past Y.Y. There are 100 concrete blocks on ■hand, valued at £1779. The total quantity of stone used in the 000 feet of extension was 74,634 tons, and the number of blocks used was GSS. DREDGE. . The sum of £lB4 3s 5d has bsen expended on repairs to the dredge during the year, principally on a. new I trunk pipes, repairs to hull, etc.; £1358 8s 5d has been expended on working expenses, making a total of £1512 lis lOd; 87,840 yards of spoil have been removed at a cost oi 4.10 d per yard. Particulars of sand removed from the harbor from 1592 as under:' —
