The Kotuku arrived from Onehunga on Saturday morning and left in the afternoon for Wellington, with 3111 crates of cheese from New Plymouth and about 400 crates from Auckland, for transhipment to the Corinthic. A MAMMOTH LINER. > The last frame of the Olympic, the more forward of the two great steamers being built l>v Harland and WoliF, Ltd., of Belfast, for the White Star Line, was erected on November 10th (says the - London Shipping Gazette). The keel was laid on December 15th, 1008; thus it has required over eleven months to get the -work advanced to the present stag», whereas in the case of a vessel of 10.000 tons, no more than three months would be needed. The registered tonnage of both the Olympic and lier sister ship, the Titanic, will lie approximately 45,000 tons, and it is estimated that altogether it •will take three years to complete them. NEW DUTCH STEAMERS. Two new steamers, now building in Holland for the Royal D|teh Packet Company, will be put on the company's Java-Austraia line next autumn. Being specially built for this service, they will 'be found a considerable improvement upon tlii? steamers at present employed. ]3otli the loading capacity and the passenger accommodation are being increased fo meet the growing demands of trade, and the company is sparing no effort to provide the new vessels with every possible comfort. They will he sister ships in every respect, the dimensions being:—Length. 325 feet;, beam, 43ft; and depth'(moulded) to spar deck, 25ft.
