SWIMMING.
A NIGHT FOR THE LADIES. There was a bio- gathering of ladies at tlic baths last night, when the swimming races for ladies and girls, for prizes donated by the Mayor, were decided. Good fields and keen competition was thg order of the evening. The results were as ioilows: Married Ladies' Race. 50 yards—Mrs Godbcher e 1, Mrs. Crazier 2. Six started. Won easily. Girls (13 and under)—M. Rav (3 sec.) D. Hawke (5 sec.) 2. Eight started. Girls (1G and under)—E Johnstone (1 sec") 'I, E. White (scr.) 2. Six started. Girls (18 and under)—E. Johnstone 3, E. White 2. Seven started. High Dive—E. Johnstone 1, E. White 2. Five competed. The diving throughout was capital. Candle Race—E. White 1. Relay Race—N. Crozier, E. Johnstone, I. Thompson, E. Tiplady 1; F. Whit-, I F. Buchanan, E. White and Hawke 2. Exhibitions of life-saving were given by N. Crozier and E. White; E. Tiplady and Miss White. It is understood that so well satisfied was Mr. Tiseh with the results of his irino'vation, that another evening's sports will he hold next month. Mr. Lints acted as starter and .judgv.
