AUSTRALIA TEAM'S VisTHE FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENT*. WELLINGTON OBDURATE. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington. Last Night. A special meeting of the W.-llington C'rieket Association was held to-night to consider the Council's recent communication asking Wellington to come into the financial pooling scheme in connection with the proposed visit of an Australian team of cricketers. Tiie meeting to-night refused to agree to pooling, but resolved to oiler ,tTISO for a match with the visitors, the Wellington Association taking all profits ?r beary any loss. According to the ■terms of the Council's communication, this decision will probably mean that the proposed tour of the Australians will be abandoned. SENIOR COMPETITION WAITARA v. CARRINGTON ROAD. Notwithstanding the rain which fell yesterday, the Waitara Cricket Club sent a team in to meet Carrington Road in the Recreation Sports Ground. Neither team was at its full strength. A matting wicket was used. Waitava went in first., and scored 02, there being no big scores. Carrington Road had made 63 for the loss of one wicket when time was called. Owing to the fact that the Inglewood juniors' telephoned replv to a telegraph' communication regarding the weather was not received localv till about 12.40 p.m. yesterday, the Fire Brigade was late 111 arriving on the Inglewood ground for the junior fixture. The home team was without its best bowler, so the visitors volunteered to take the field instead of '"'tossing" for it. The home team compiler! 89. of which Sutherland made the batsman having several ''lives'' that didn't reflect credit on the fielding. Or bell was the only other double-figure scorer. The batsmen got hold of Ballot's bowling from his sixth over, and the last five wickets cost 03 runs, hire Brigade had lost six wickets tor 40 when stumps were drawn.
