MR. TISCH AS MAYOR.

Sir,—lt gave irie very much pleasure to i-ead the announcement in the "News"' this morning that an effort is to be made by the burgesses to induce Mr. Tisch to consent to fill the mayor:!chair for another term. Tramways are the one thing needed to place New Plymouth, in a fair running with, other towns. In my own small experience here. I have become aware of the loss of several well-to-do families, who, had we "hose absolute essentials of a modern town, would have taken up their residence here. But cue need not labor this point, for there seems to be a consensus of opinion on this matter. And that being so. one hopes that a strong and successful 'effort will be made to induce Mr. Tiseh to re-consider his intention of depriviiii us all of his much needed leading at this juncture.—l am,, etc., B.
