As the waters subside outside settlerarrive ill the township ill a halt-starved condition, after sending a couple ot days in trees and on roofs. Not the least uncomfortable pari of their experiences was having to snare resting places with a ho-t of snakes, spiders and other creeping things. A man at Boggabri hauled his wife and family into a tree, where they remained secured by ropes for a day and a night without food. it is estimated that"the losses in the Boggabri district amount to .t'40.000.
The patients in the Narrabri Hospital had an uncomfortable time. The water was four feet deep in the wards. Men extemporised raised beds. The nurses had to wade round up to their waists in water attending to the sick. At Tnverel] the flood carried a horse into the fork of a tree. Subsequcntl" the tree was cut down and the animal walked away uninjured. The latest report from Weewaa shows that the water lias fallen four feet. The body of one of the victims of the boatin<r disaster has been recovered. Much distress exists among the homeless people. Relief boats have been sent to them. The .postal services to the Hooded areas are at a standstill. TELEGRAPHIC COMMUNK 'ATION BEING RESTORED. Received Januarv 21. 1.5 a.m. Sydney, January 2d.
