HAWERA WINTER SHOW.

SHAREHOLDERS' STATUTORY MEETING.

The statutory meeting of shareholders of the South Taranaki Winter Show Company, Limited, was held at the Borough Council Chambers on Saturday afternoon. Sixteen shareholders were present. Mr. Gillies was voted to the chair.

The report of the provisional directors was read. In moving its adoption the chairman said" he would like to congratulate shareholders on the company .having been floated so heartily. It was very satisfactory that such a large number of shares had been issued in such a short time. He pointed out that all shareholders could further assist the company by putting their shoulders to the wheel and seeing that more shares were taken up. They must remember that the 411 issued was the miiiimui'l He briefly referred to the 1 offer made to the #ompany by his 1 firm of £BO a year rent for suitable office accommodation, and Mr. Turton had further offered £4O for a portion of the building they would not require. He had been informed that the company could get a substantial sum for the lease of the skating rink, if they did not desire to run it themselves. The company's prospects were therefore good, a-nd he said the shareholders should see that they got energetic and capable men on the directorate.

The report was adopted without discussion.

There were eleven nominations for the directorate (nine directors being required). Mr. Jsalder declined nomination. Only four of the directors appointed were present. Result: Messrs. A. W. Gillies, B. C. Bennett. D. J. Goodwin (101). W. Baker ( ( J9). 0. E. Major (90), F. H. Boase (SS), F. W. Wilkie (30), J. V. Wybom (32), T!. F. (30). Mr. J. A. Turton was appointed auditor at a fee of five guineas. In reply to a question, Mr. Bishop was informed that the land bought by the company had cost £SOO, and ,£4O for a strip of land at the back of the section mul the right-of-wav. The land was: 248 ft x 110ft.—Star. "
