BURNING FATALITY
TWO CHILDREN SUCCUMB. XIIE DANGERS OF A SPIRIT IRON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Melbourne, December 2U. A distressing accident happened while Mrs. Hooper, a resident of Benalia, \vas_ ironing with a patent iron, heated with methylated spirits. Thinking the spirits had burnt out she proceeded to replenish the iron. Immediately a great sheet of flame shot out and ignited the clothing of her throe children who were standing near by. A boy, two and a-half years of age died almost at once, and "a girl a<*ed eight was so dreadfully burnt that "she succumbed three hours after the accident. A girl four years of age wae severely burnt, but hopes are entertained for her recovery. The mother, atthough standing over the iron, escaped.
