TABANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. CHRISTMAS MEETING. The Taranaki Jockey Club concluded its Christmas meeting yesterday. There was again a large attendance of the public. Rain threatened during the day, but only a few drops fell, not enough to cause inconvenience. The fields were not large, but the racing, was interesting. An enquiry was held into the running of Te Roti in the Electric Hack Handicap, there being an idea that the horse was not being ridden to win. After taking evidence, the stewards warned the rider. The totalisatpr betting was seriously affected by the, fact that some £9OO of investments . was impounded as the result of the protest against Bay Paul on the fiust day, the stewards being unable to decide the protest, owing to lack of information concerning the allegation that one of the horse's connections was on the unpaid forfeit list. The Taranaki Garrison Band played a fine programme of music on the lawn. The catering was in the capable hands of Mr. J. W. Thomson, and Mr. li. Whittle conducted the licensed booth ill the usual satisfactory style.
