NEW 80AM! OF RAILWAY FARES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The new scale of railway fares, oa the lines announced in the Treasurer's budget, namely, first class , l'/,d per mile, second class Id per mile, i«"gazetted tonight. Monthly tourist tickets are increased by £1 for each Island. The new scale tomes into operation on January 9th.

At an emergency meeting of the Harbor Board tiiis morning the chairman stated tlmt the board had agreed to one extra member being included for Manukau in the Bill now before Parliament The House, lie said, bad inserted three extra members, which the board could not agree to. It was resolvod to unanimously ask to have the Bill dropped by the Upper House. IMPROVING OAMARU HARBOR. Dunedin, December 23. Mr. Justice Williams' gave judgment oil the motion of the Oamaru Harbor Board to spend £12,800. His Honor considered it in the best interests of all concerned that an order should be made.
