THE KNYVETT CASE.

CONCLUSION OF PROCEEDINGS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, December 23. When the Knyvctt inquiry was resumed this morning, Colonel C'haytor announced tliat Captain Knyvctt had called Auckland officers to show that he had been approached with examples of Colonel Robin's interference and officialism, but the paragraph in Captah Knyvett's letter went further; it referred to the whole of the North Island. Captain Knyvett would bo given an opportunity to call the evidence of outside officers if lie wished. ' Captain Knyvett refused, as some of bis witnesses were on the staff and in Government billets. If they were called they might prejudice their positions. Summing up, Captain Knyvett said lie •had not been allowed to call evidence allowed b\ tlie regulations. The court had ruled against him on every point raised, in face of the highest authorities, including judges of the Queen's Bench Division. Captain Knyvctt also pressed tlie court to reveal the name of jtlie officer who ordered his arrest, but the court said that could not be done. The court closed this 1 morning, and will transmit the papers to the officer convening the court. No decision is given by the court, which simply reports to Wellington.
