SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
The Board of School Commissioners met at the secretary's (Mr. F. P. Corkill's) office on Saturday. Present: Messrs J. Wade, F. Simpson and A. Morton.
Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Jennings, M.P., and Ma.
The secretary reported a visit from the Xoxious Weeds Inspector, who was greatly dissatisfied with the condition of a reserve.—lt was decided to request the ranger to inspect and to netify the tenant that this would be done.
The secretary submitted his report on Mrs. Ellfirm's application for a renewal lease, and pointed out that apparentlv it could not be dealt with at present.— After some discussion it was resolved on the motion of Messrs Simpson and Morton that the secretary confer - with the Board's solicitor, and obtain his written opinion on tho Board's powers under the recent enactments. ,
Further correspondence with the 'Patea Westlload Board Wus'considered, and it was decided to make enquiry as to the alleged vesting of the old road in the commissioners.
The Wanganui Education Board asked whether the commissioners would he willing to purchase tho ten-acre school silc, £art section 30, block 14, Ngairc S.D., if the Minister's consent to the sale could he, obtained.—lt was resolved on the motion of Messrs Simpson and Morton that the commissioners will be prepared to negotiate in the event of the land being available for sale.
Mr. W. F. .UcAllum's application for conversion of'his lease of section 10 Manganui district, was held over pending the receipt of further infnrmn(ion. '
The treasurer reported a balance of £O9B (is fid, and was authorised to pay out £SOO on primary revenue account and £75 on seeondarv revenue account. Subject to all details being in order the following transfers were agreed to: —May Faulkner fo Chas. E. Rahy, section 4, blool; 13, Wnro S|D.; .Toliu Morrissey to George Carman, section 3. block 14, Patea town; A. J. Kemp to d. A. Rumerville, sections 10(50, -etc..New Plymouth.
Mr. G. A. Marchnnt was appoints sole arbitrator in connection with the renewals of leases,to Millicent Gayln-d and Henry iirowii and Co., and" Mr. Corkill was appointed the Board's arbitrator in connection with the renewal of sections 853, 854 and 868, New Plymonth.
Accounts amounting to £49 15s, wore passed for payment,
