MOA ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Moa Koad Board was held on Saturday. Mr. H. Trimble presided, and there were also present Messrs. Stead, Jones, Laurence, and Capper. The chairman reported from the committee meeting on 27th ult. that J. Nielson's tender had been accepted for the Davis road contract at Os Ud per yard, and the same contractor's tender for 100 yards of metal for Kaimata road north. The only tender for the Hursthouse mad was too high, and Hoskiii would break what was required in his spare time. The committee hud decided that only the hill on the north side of the jfiilly on Wortley road he! graded, and that the point at the botl<)ui of the hill oil the south wide .be taken oil'. The committee had recommended that the foremanship of division IV be offered to K Vercoe, but Vereoe had declined the position. The. chairman reported having arranged wilh Ward to continue in the position from week to week. The report was adopted.
Mr. W. G. Ueid, secretary of the New Plymouth Sash and J)oor Company, wrote that in answer to the deputation w-hie'h had waited upon the Company's chairman in respect of an increase of ievv for timber carted over bepper and Kgmont roads, he had been instructed to inform the board that the directors had decided to increase the levy from l'/.d to Ihl per 100 ft. as from December Ist, 190!).
A complaint was received from 'Mr. G. Ca.pper that the foreman, after placing -metal on Kaimata road north, had left the road in a bad state, and ayked that 'lie be sent back to clean the sidetables, etc.—To be attended to.
Messrs. Orbell aud Mackay reported that the contractor was now arranging to start the metalling of Davis road. Ifc was decided that.surfaceman Ward inspect Kohete bridge. The tender of G. (Swan was accepted l at -£37 for a cutting and filling on th.* J Wortley road, and £5 17s 5d per chain 1 for formation and metalling. ! The annual meeting of ratepayers in the Moa road district was* held during the afternoon, the attendance comprising five members of the Road Board and four other ratepayers. Mt. Trimble, chairman of the Board, presided. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted, after explanation bv the chairman. There was no the Board's affair?.
