The first of the wool sales of this sea. son's series wag held to-day, when thc.e was offering considerably "in excess nf last year's first catalogue. Much of the wool came forward in excellent condition, tut a large portion caused a good deal of grumbling among buyers. The bidding was very brisk, Continental buyers being particularly active and favoring fine quality half-breds and The Americans seemed somewhat mcim. Ed to hang fire but were anxious to « cure clean crossbred lots., However, the. extensive operations of a number of independent buyers made it difficult to ascertain the destination of a great portion of the wool purchased.
