This, with the anticipated' subsidy by the Government, will make .£I,OOO per annum. Included in the offer is £75 for laboratory , and £IOO for travelling expenses for the first year. It was then resolved that on receipt of an assurance of an annual Government subsidy of £ for £ on. £SOO, Miss Anna C. Sedges, M.A., be appointed professor at £SOO per annum for four years from January 11, 1011. The council also allowed £(M for travelling expenses to New Zealand, and £IOO for research travelling, should the appointee so elect It wis also resolved that Miss Hedges be authorised to engage an assistant at £250 a year.
Miss Sedges) is 30 years of age, graduated at St. Louis in 1884, and has had a distinguished educational career, embracing the arts, music, cookery and domestic science. She is now principal of a technical high School in New York.
