A well-known settler in the person of Mr. John llarribali, of tne Eguiont roatl, died in Die Hospital oil Sunday. Mr. Ralph 11. Skipwitb, of the Stratford Post, has left for Wellington to take up tin 1 position of special sporting writer on llic Wellington Post. It is stated (says the Dominion) on what seems to" be good authority, that the manager of the Moumaliaki Experimental Farm, Mr. Gillanders, has resigned, the reason 'being given that be is quite opposed to the wholesale retrenchment which Tias recently .besn made 011 his stall', considering that successful work under the changed circumstances is (juite impossible. l'alnierslau will probably lose the mini,(.rations of tile Key. Isaac Jolly, Moderator of the Presbyterian Assembly. The Itev. Mr. Jolly, Who for the' past eight and a half years has occupied the pastorate of St. Andrew's, has re-* ceived a call from St. Stephen's, Pousonby, Auckland, and at the invitation of the Northern congregation will preach in their church on 10th December. Mr. Jolly has been assured that the call is a unanimous one, and that no other name has been considered. During his residence in Palmerston lie has rendered great services to education—both primary and secondary—and his departure will be regretted by the citizens.
