OPUNAKE MOTOR COMPANY.

The statutory meeting of the Opimake Motor Transport Company was held at Pungarehu on Friday afternoon. ; \ j number of those interested in the com pany journeyed out from New Plynioutii on the motor-bus' which it is intended; to use in the mail service, and which I had only arrived in New Plymouth on the Wednesday previous. Kahotu was reached in about 3'/, hours, after a very good run. After luncheon at the Raliotu hotel, the party journeyed back to Pimgarolni, where a large number ol shareholders were present. Mr. M. Fleming presided. The report stated that the company now had four cars ready to take up the running. They 'had secured the mail contract from New Plymouth to Opunakc. The shares had all been taken up by those interested in farming on the coast. The following directors were appointed:—Messrs. M. Fleming and J. Harvey (Pungarehu), J. C. O'Rorke (Oaonui). It. Morrow (Raliotu), J. Burgess (\\'uroa), A. 11. Metcalf (Okato), and Newton King (New Plymouth). Mr. It. Baily was appointed secretary and manager, and Mr. Geo. Rogers (Opunakc) auditor.

The time-table will be published in a few days, but it is understood that the intention at present is to run a daily trip to Opunakc and back, leaving New Plymouth about 8 a.m. The time on each journey will be about 5 hours, as against o'/ 2 hours by coach at present. After the meeting of the Motor Company a meeting of settlers was held to consider the question of having the mail service run from Opunake to New Plymouth and back each day, leaving Opunake early in the morning, so as to enable settlers to do their business in New Plymouth and return the same night. A strong committee was set up to consider the matter.
