ATHLETICS
There were a number of enthusiasts present last evening when the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Club held another couple of races for members. The distances were 220 and 880 yards respectively. The former was won by Bert Stohr (14yds 1 .), with L. B. Webster (syds.) second, and "Jack" Stohr (15) third; Melsaac and C. Wiebster also competed. L. B. Webster made a good effort in the last few yards, and was just beaten by a yard after a good race. Time, 23 2-ssec. -The half mile was also won by Bert Stohr, after a ding-dong race the whole length of the straight with his brother. The others competitors were distanced, or fell out. On Thursday next 150 yards and 000 yarrfs' races will be got off, and some capital running should be witnessed. Bofocher, B. Clark, A. N. Morey, and M. Ward, who were unable to compete yesterday, will then compete.
