HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
SATISFACTORY ENTRIES. Entries-for the New Plymouth Hoc'icultral Society's annual show, to '■>•: held in the Tlnatre Royal to-iiion'.)-., closed last evening, and show a gratifying improvement on those of last yei", which constituted a record. The enfi-is are as follow, the figures in parentheses being the number received last year.— Pot plants, 80 (45): cut flowers, 2;<!) (111(1); bouquets and Moral designs. S3 (79); vegetables. 128 (13!>); home-nude preserves. 54 (:iti): home-made bread, cakes, etc., 110 (127); totals. 11)0!), (iilij IMS, lilC. The figures do not relict the full extent of the increase, as Included in the pot plants class are tin re collections, each of between 20 and •>(). This was not the cane last year. j'r. Newton King will have on exhibition a very fine collection of (lowers, cfe, sorie fdea of its extent being gathered from the fact that the exhibit will take up 30 or 40ft of space. The local nurserymen, Messrs MbrslicaTj and Duncan.' will have collections on view, as will Messrs T,nird. of Wniifflmii. besides whwh Mr.
