Tay- ; lor, M.P., on behalf of the New /.'■;!■ , land Alliance, lequesting tliem at tl.i'ii ; Sunday services to have resolutions , paßßed protesting against the proposal ! in the Defence Hill for the obtaining of intoxicants in canteens in military camps. In most cases the request was acceded to, and «trongly-worded resolutions passed by the congregations. Wellington, Monday. The congregations ol a number of the local churches passed resolutions yesterday protesting against canteens being provided for in the Defence Bill. Telegrams from a number of places indicate that resolutions were pass? I i'l tic churches yesterday condemning military canteens.

There was a very large congregation at Wesley Chureli yesterday, when tie question of canteens at military camps was laid before the gathering. Mr. C. H. Poole, M.P., 6poke on the matt;r, after which the Rev. C. E. Beeeroft, expresident of the Methodist Conference, ■proposed tlnit the following telegr.tm he sent to the Pi'emier:—"Deeply concerned at the Government proposals to continue facilities for obtaining intoMcants at military camps, considering the grave moral danger to which the liquor canteen system exposes the youth of lie Dominion. The "Feildinot Wcslevan congregation earnestly and emphatic tl'y urgps its abolition." The motion was carried iinnniinouslv. The telejram was Bent to the Premier this morning.
