Councillor Eaglcton had given notice to move the following motion at a meeting of tlie Borough Council to-night: "That the Chinese be excluded from the municipal swimming baths but may bathe in the hot plunge hath, same to lie reserved for their use, provided they DuiVlNse sufficient tickets to reimburse the Council for such privilege." The imitiieipal solicitor advised that in their opinion any by-law aimed at the exclusion Iroin the baths of some particular ('lacs of the public, sty Alnoris or Chinese, lieiause of their nationality, would bo ultra vires. Cr. Eugliton's' notion was accordingly ruled out of order.
