THE NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, Last Night. The annual meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held to-night. Dr. A. K. Newman (president) occupied the chair. Officers were elected as follows:--Pre,si-dent, Mr. A. Mnrryatt (Dr. Newman finding public duties prevent him again occupying the position); vice-presideiits, Messrs W. F. Larkin (Wellington) and E. L. Chaifey (Canterbury); auditor, Mr. C. P. Morpeth; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. G. Talbot.
The championship meeting for 1909-.0 was allotted to Auckland, no date beiii" fixed. °
Reinstatements were made as follows: W. J. Munro (Otago), D. Stewart (Southland), William Henry Hagen (PC tone), Wm. T. H. Owens (Hokitika). It was decided that L. ,1. Furrie, A. \V. Hall and E W. Echlington (Palnierston North) be'reinstated if the Reinstatement Committee is satisfied that they did not compete as professionals while the Manawatu Amateur Athletic Club was in existence. The application of T. W. Leslie (Wellington) for reinstatement is to be forwarded to the Australasian Union with a recommendation from the Council that the special circumstances of the case be taken into consideration.
In connection with the proposed visit of Whentley and Davis to the Dominion, it was decided to ask them if thsy can commence their tour the first week in January, finishing with the championship meeting at Auckland. It was decided to ask the opinion of the various centres throughout the Dominion as to the advisability of levying'a small capitation fee on members of clubs towards the expense of representation at the Olympic Games.
