Greymouth, Saturday. There is no alteration in the strike. lUs announced that the Paparoa negotiation is well under way, and that on amicable agreement will be arrived at.

[ Christchurch, .Saturday. -Several coal jiicrclmnts met this mornin? ami in view of the fact that the slock is running short, decided to increase the price of Newcastle coal bv 3s per ton. It was explained that this was done in order to check the orders with which merchants had tfccn rushed. State coal is not affected by the increase. There are stil! rumom in the city that there .is likely to be a general strike in New Zealand next week, but no definite news is available.
A telegram from the manager at Blackball says things are quiet and that thcro is no ill-feeling with tie men.
