PRODUCE MARKET. Messrs. E. Griffiths and Co. arc in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Mills and Sparrow dated Bth October, 1900:- . BUTTER. The weather has again been unsettled, and tho temperature has been very changeable. All finest goods have met with a ready sale, hut the trade has continued slow on secondary, and some bright cold weather is l now wanted to give an improvement to these kinds. Danish:-The quotation has been raised three kroncrs. The Northern markets have been very strong, and at the moment the Danes have matters practically all their own way, as there is nothing quite fine enough on the market to take the place of Danish butter, with the result that buyers have to pay the prcc demanded.

Irish: There is very little coining now that can be called finest, and buyers are gradually dropping off. French: Trade is fairly satisfactory, the supply and demand l)eiii}r about level. Siberian: Arrivals this) week lnl.il about the same as last, but a fair proportion are butters that have been belli in eold store the other side, and arc mostly of a secondary character. Tin?

is having the effect of keeping the market slow on these grades, but the position is far healthier than last year, when the ;e told stored butters were not shipped out until very much later, which had a depressing effect on the market Australian: Tile butters ex s.s. Orsova arrived this week in good order, and the few fresh made cleared immediately on landing, but the stored goods have hung lire. The demand continues to run on liuest quality only, and buyers seem to be clearing up any odd lots that they have in store, in order to prepare for the larger arrivals that will be coming. This augurs well for the future, and no doubt we shall have a healthy market, and we shall get a chance to dear up the stored lrts a little later on. New Zealand: The s.s. Tongariro docked vestcrdav, and some, of her butter is oil the market to-day. They are mostly stored goods, and the quality, with the exception of one or two small lots, is only fair, there being a large proportion of second-grade butter.
