The new Patea vessel, the Kapuni, proved herself a good sea Doat in the rough weather of Sunday night and Monday (says the Patea Press). She was compelled by stress of weather to slow down but on the whole gave an excellent account of herself and reached Wanganui with very little trouble. Says the Patea paper:—The state oi the bar and ehannel have been extremely satisfactory for a considerable time past. There have' been no mishaps this year and the general stale of affairs may be regarded as handsomely justifying the Harbor Board's expenditure on improvements.
