AMUSEMENTS.

HAYWARD'S PICTURES. Hayward's preseuted a very attractive programme of pictures at t'.ie Theatre Royal last evening, which m"t with the entire approbation of the audience. The machine was operated from the downstairs lloor instead of the dress circle, giving the films on the screen a steadier effect. The programme was varied and included—"The Boy Scouts to the Rescue." "Frost-bound Nature," "Snapshots in India." "A False Friend/' "Stung by a Bee," "Turtle-catching in ♦Soubrobza," "The Tower of London." 'A Pretty Housemaid;' ''C'aiino Objects io Work,'' "A Day in Washington." "Hunting the Berlin Jack-the-Kipper," etc. The programme, which is refined and entertaining, will be repeated this afternoon and to night. NEW PLYMOUTH CHORAL SOCIETY. I The second concert ot the New Ply- | mouth Choral Society, under the conductorship of Mr. Francis Cornwall, is to, take place on Wednesday. December Bth. The assiduous practise of the Society is producing satisfactory results, and some very choice choral numbers ' will be submitted. A fine orchestra has "been got together for the occasion, and the practises show promise of some good orchestra! work, including part of Haydn's Symphony No. 2, also a descriptive section and a composition by Mr. Cornwall. Solos will be sung \,y Miss Leatham (who possesses a contralto voice), Muss Ward and Miss Olive Buckman, both of whom are if* tists of great promise, and Mr. J. HasJam. Tt is to be hoped that the New Plymouth musical public will support the endeavors of the Society to give us their best by a liberal patronage and thu* help to keep up the musical status of the town. THE CINEMATOGRAPH AT THE REC.

Mr. Itiiah Wilson, manager fur Henry Havward's enterprises, who is at piesent in town, is making arrangements for showing pictures at thr Recreation Grounds every week. In all probability a band will be engaged to take part in the performance, which" should he of «■ unique and enjoyable character.
