WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD

At the monthly meeting of the above Hoard there were present: Messrs S. i urn bull (chairman), Messrs Hall anu Smith.

■ Correspondence was read from Mr. R. i'ate stating lie would he prepared to work the road-grader at the end of t'.ie piesent month; lrom Mr. F. Hoslcin sLating he would expect Is per yard extra royalty on all metal carted across his property to the Wairau road; from the Treasury, notifying payment of £10! l 13s (Id, being subsidy on last year's rates; and from Mr. J. 11. Smith, stating that settlers on Cross road had guaranteed £5 donation towards cost of metal. It was decided to hold tho next meeting on Tuesday, November 30, on account of the Taranaki Agricultural Show.

Surfaceman Palmer reported that the upper end of Kelly road had been repaired, pa-rta of Upper Te Arei bad been formed, culvert on Karaka road had been put in, and two more 2ft pipes were required on the same road. Surfaceman Giddy reported that (12 yards of gravel had been used for repairing the Wortley road and 42 yards for the Richmond; hill ou Richmond road had been formed, also hill on Manulalii East road.

Tlio surfacemen were directed to form the upper end of Te Arei road, do accessary formation and felling on the Upper Karaka road, and maNc a side track on Kelly road, from Mauiualu East road to the bridge. Tenders were received and .Messrs Jeifrev aud Co.'s was accepted for Corbett road, 3» !)d per yard; Mahoetah'i, at 4s per yard; Brown, at Os per yard Vailara, from .Viahoetalii pit at Os 4(1 pur yard, and Tate road at 2s IM per yarn. Mr. lenders for l.epper at 4s lid per yard, Te Arei at 4- 3d nml 4 per yard, -Matarikoriko at (is per yard, anil Worllev at 3»' 3d per yard. .Mr. E. Kit-hards' lender for Cross road at lis per yard.

* The clerk was directed to inform Mr I-'. Iluskin that no extra royalty would !■(■ paid on metal carted over his pro perty. Accounts amounting to CSO were passed for payment and the Board rose.
