EDUCATION BOARD.
The Education Board resumed its meeting yesterday morning, Mr. Wade presiding. The Cardiff school committee wrote protesting against the new system ol centralising the sixth standard examin ations. —The Board had already forwarded a protest to the Department. Teachers and pupil - teachers sitting for the matriculation and junior Civil Service examinations will be granted tue necessary leave of absence. The matter of granting leave of absence to the teachers of the Ukau school was referred to the chaiiii,(,n, with power to act. The action of the Httiroa committee in closing the school during the time occupied by the alterations was confirmed. Correspondence from the Raupiiha committee regarding attendance was referred to the chairman of the Hoard, and he was requested to communicate with the teacher and to take such action as he may think desirable. In pursuance of the director's recommendation, an assistant will be appointed in the Stratford District High School, at a salary of £l3O per annum, for the special agricultural class. Miss Violet Smith (Toko) resigned her position owing to ill-health. Miss .Mills, of Denbigh road, will be permitted to assist Miss Ulanseii in teaching the Denbigh school. An application will be made to the Department for a new school on me Newall road.
The Department will be asked win £8 13s 5d was disallowed when making a subsidy on donations to the Stratfo District High School.
