METHODIST CONFERENCE. By Telegram.—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. The Methodist Synod passed a resolution recommending the conference to adopt Ihe committee's working scheme in regard to an independent conference for New Zealand. The Rev. Read was elected district representative to the conference and Rev. Boys as substitute representative. In the evening a conversazione was held. RAILWAY MEN AT VARIANCE. Wellington, Wednesday. The Wellington branch of the Eng'inodrivers' and Cleaners' Association has passed a resolution expressing its "disgust at the antagonistic attitude adopted by officials of the A.S.R.S. in engineering resolutions form their various branches, and in trying to stop our getting recognition by the Government, seeing that they represent scarcely 50 per cent, of the railway men, while the Association represents ninety per coit. of the drivers, firemen and 'cleaners.''
