FATALITY AT POHOKURA. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Stratford, Wednesday. Patrick O'Councll, employed oy Messrs MeCluggage Bros., was killed this morning on the Pohokura Saddle through a wheel of a dray passing over mm. THE DARGAVILLE TRAGEDY. MURDERER DIES IN GAOL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Wednesday. The sequel to the shocking tragedy which occurred at Dargaville on September 39, when Mrs. lvjer, wife of Mr. 11. Kjcr, on old resident of Northern Wairoa, wii6 murdered in Victoria street by a lunatic named Allwood, was the death of Alhvood at Auckland lait night. Airs. Kjcr, it mill be remembered, was alone at home,- and was in bed reading, when Allwood entered carrying a heavy cane knife, almost like a 6cythe. Sh e jumped out of bed and ran into the street screaming, Being .pursued by Allwood. When in the centre of the road she apparently fainted or fell from exhaustion, when Allwood reached her and struck her three blows, one of which broke her neck. Allwood only returned from the Avondale Asylum two or three days previously, and, according to all accounts, should never have been released.
Allwood was to have appeared at the Supremo Court this morning. Judge Cooper announced that he had received a message from the asylum superintendent stating that. Allwood had been ill for some day 6 and that he had died last night. His Honor thereupon discharged the case from the list.
