SAD BOATING FATALITY

FOUR PEOPLE DROWNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchureh, Wednesday. A sad boating accident, resulting in the death of four persons, occurred at the mouth of the Raknia rivor yestor-1 day afternoon. Mrs Baxter, Miss Rountree, and Messrs James Baxter, Thomas Hannah and Harvey Hannah were rowing in the river near the mouth in a pint when, presumably, they got too near the mouth and were swept out to sea By the stream and the boat upset. The only one of the party saved was Baxter, and ho was in a very prcoarions state. Up till a late hour last evening he had not recovered consciousness. The only witnesses of the. accident wore two brothers Carnes.

Four of the victims were well-known residents of Southbridge. Miss Roimtree had gone there on Saturday to spend a holiday.
