DEATH IN A TRAIN. «y Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. A man apparently between 55 and IK) years of age met with an accident which terminated fatally during the traiii journey from Mastertou to Wellington yesterday. Just before the train steamad into the Upper Hutt station he was wen swinging from the platform rail, And as the guard ran to his assistance be fell clear of the train. He was taken into a carriage, and the only complaint be made was that one foot was sore. While his boot was being unlaced lie had a fainting fit, but recovered. A little later he again collapsed and died. [Che only mark on him was a bruise on one of his knees. It is supposed that deceased was injured internally. His liame is T. McCarthy, a farmer, of Masterton, who had lately been residing in [Wellington.

MAN MISSING. Christchurch, Last Night. The relatives and friends of Mr. Arthur Clarkson, of Kogen and Clarkson, monumental matrons, of Dunedin, but Srtio resides in this city, are greatly ,-x ercised in mind as to his whereabouts. He left this city on October 29th for EFeschemaker's siding, six miles south of Oamaru, where he was to meet the Government architect. He was seen in limaru on October 29th and 30th, but since then, despite enquiries' of the police and relatives, he has been unseen and unheard of, and he has completely Bisappeared. The only suggested explanation of the mystery'is that he has suffered a relapse from an attack of malar1U fever, and is with friends who have tmaccountably failed to communicate With his relatives. There is no suggestion of financial troubles or business ■rorriea.

HEART FAILURE. Ohristchurch, Last Night. Thomas Bird, a native of Cumberland, and a resident of Rangiora since the early sixties, died this morning. Deceased was out attending to his stock When he suddenly fell down and exp'ivd almost Immediately. Heart failure is believed to be the cause.
