Cleorge Wyndliani, a Conservative, speaking at Driffield, said what we wanted was British capital put into British industry so that the British artisan might earn a living wage. During nine months of 1008 £42,000,0000 was .subscribed in Great Britain for home enterprise abroad, and during nine months of this year—since the introduction of the Budget—£l32,000,000 has been subscribed, of which £1(1,000,000 was for home enterprise. British, manufacturers, he said, could not go on on these terms.
