HOMING.
The New Plymouth East Flying Club held a race on Thursday last, for old birds, from Paluierston North, a distance of 130 miles. The weather conditions were unfavorable, a strong north-west wind prevailing and preventing the birds homing in fast time, although the majority of birds homed on day of liberation. Following was the result:—lst, C. R. Wright's "liars" and W. H. Boston's Shamrock," 4hrs. 17>nin.; 2nd, H. McGahey'fl "Warrior," 4hrs. lTmin. 55sec.; 3rd, A. Lovegrove's "Awahun," l4hrs. 24min. 25sec. On Saturday last, under the auspices of the above club, a race was held from Auckland, 187 miles, this being the second race flown from the northern city this season. The day was fine, and a slight northerly breeze gave the birds an advantage to register fast times, tie winner covering the distance in Shis. 31-min., the velocity beinfe about 15(10 yards per minute.
