Mr. G. Harris, draughtsman uf tile Ccological Department, arrived by the mail train last night, in connection with the geological survey of the district now being undertaken bv Mr. Clark, of Dr. Dell's staff.
Mr. C. I). Clrey, Mayor of Auckland, and chairman of directors of the Standard Oil Company of New Zealand, and Mr. I'. A. Iladley, managing director, are on a visit of inspection of the company's property at Harrington road. Mr. \\. I'orben, an insurance canvasser, states his intention of contesting the Taumarunui scat against Mr. Jennings, M.P., at the next general election, standing as an opponent of the present Government. Mr. Forbes stood as a Socialist candidate at Wellington South fit the last election.
