AMUSEMENTS.

"OUU BOYS." Three hours of good, honest fun, sprinkled with fine glimpses of human nature, is quite the least that that tan be said of "Our Boys," the piece which the local amateurs produce in the Theatre Royal on Wednesday and Thursday, December 1 and 2. The two fathers of "Our Boys,' 1 the boys themselves and their sweethearts, not to mention the good-hearted slavey, Belinda, are all well-drawn characters, an 1, unlike the usual "star" play, each part has an opportunity of "making good over the footlights," to use an Americanism. The caste selected is a good one, including Messrs A. -M. Bra lluirv. V. Fitzhcrbert, J. Esther, Les. Hill, \V. 11. Jennings, li. D. Coker, Mks D. Bedford, Misses J. and L. Fitzhcrbert, and Mrs. Claude Weston. New scenery is being prepared by Mr. F. Stevens, ail of which will be good, especially'rue second act, which promisor- to b ( . one of the prettiest interior sittings eve; .-en; in New Plymouth. Good music is promised under the direction of Mr. \Vill Perry. The box plan opens at Collier's next Friday morning.

HARVARD'S PICTURES. The programme of moving pictures presented at the Theatre Roval last evening by Hayward's Picture 'd. was easily one! of the best that has been shown to a local audience. The subjects dealt with were inslrmtive, interesting and humorous, and being put on the screen by th? most up-to-date plant and methods, there was no eyetiring flicker. The programme will be repeated to night with additional films, and lovers of the kinematograph may rely on witnessing an excellent entertainment. This afternoon at 2.30 o'clock a matinee performance will be given, when an essay competition on "Scenes in Berlin" will be held. All school children are invited to compete. I HEWITT'S PICTURES. Mr. Hewitt, who has taken a lease or the Theatre Royal for every night on which it is not engaged, proposes opening ou the evening of Tuesday week next. He has just secured a. 1909 model Pathe machine (making the second of its kind in New Zealand) and will use only new and up-to-date films, with two changes a week, putting on 8000 feet at a time. He has given up the theatre on the Ist and 2nd prox. for the amateur performance of "Our Boys."
