THE MARKETS. Wheat —The market is quiet and inactive. Cargoes are steadily held, fix thousand tons of Australian per steamer. December-January shipment, and 31st October shipment sailers, are offering at 41s; and February-March shipments at 37s 9d. There is' little inquiry for Australian on spot at 42s 9d and 435; New Zealand, 38s Od to 39s 3d. Flour is slow of sale at 31s 3d spot; 28s 6d is asked for January-February shipment. Barley—There is good demand Vor Australian malting at 34s to 37s 6d; ex store Chevalier 30s to 355. Oats—There is good enquiry for fine New Zealand Gartons at 20s to 225; Sparrowbills 19s 6d to 20s Od. La Plata is quiet. January-February shipment 13s 3d. Butter—The Osterley'e shipment' sold briskly, choicest salted fetching lUs, 110s, and 118s. New Zealand is quoted at 120s and Danish is unchanged, owing to the cessation of Siberian supplies. New secondaries and stored colonials are meeting with more enquiry—the former fetching 104s to 110s, and the latter 98s to 104s. Copper—Spot £6O Is 3d; three months £Ol 3s 9d; electrolytic £O2. Tin—Spot £.189 17s 6d; three months £142. Lead, £l3 ss. Spelter, £23 ss. Sugar—German 12s sd, first marks 14s 3d. Wool—On the Bradford wool market small business is being done. Prices are very firm, owing to colonial reports.
