TARANAKI LUND BOARD
The Taranaki Land Board met yesterday. Present: JTessrs F. Simpson (Commissioner of Drown Lands), J. ilesloji, J. Raileuburv, .1. B. Conuett and .1. JlcCluggagc. LAND APPLIED FOR. The following applications for land, received since last meeting, were approved;—Section 3. block 7, Tangitu, lv!S8 acres, J. F. Smith, U.R.P.; sections' 65, 57 and 00, Parilutii, 07 acres 1 rood, 4 perches, J. \i. W. Henchman, U.LL.S.j W. ■! Haycock, section 1, block 2, Tangitu. V. Fv. J'nlford's application lor sections l« and 111, block 4, I'nrilutu, as aji addition lo her present holding in the , Spotswood settlement, was not enter- ( tinned.
E. Erlaudson appeared before tiie Board and asked to lie allowed to select sections 03 and (i-l, block 4. I'arilulu | Spotswood) as an addition to his' pre-! sent holding.—Not entertained. 'I ho ranger will report on the applica-! tiou of W. A. Ilarwuod for 501) or 000 . | acres of land on Rangi road, Warn. '' Jlr. McCluggugc mentioned a request from 11. C. A. King bearing on the same subject and pointing out that three sec-, lions of Crown lands, one on each sale of Jit. Dampier road, could lie subdivided and thus provide more settlers for that part of the district. TRANSERS. Applications' for transfers were dealt with in committee.
Applications were received for exten-1 sion of time to register the following transfers:—W. H. ■ Thompson to T. C. Brash, .part section 1, block 15, Aria; D. and Jl. A. O'Shea to Jl. A. O'Shea, section 7, block 11, Ngaire; C. J. Riddle to S. Riddle, part sections 13 and 14 of section 1, blocks 2 and 3, Aria, and sublease; A. 11. Cleaver to A. Dean, section 1!), block 13, Pouatu.—Approved. 1 F. \V. E. Leggett applied to forfeit section 4, block 3, Upper Waitara Forfeited accordingly. 11. T. Twifis, ranger, reported that S. Pate had done no improvements on section 1, 'block 5, Kapara.—Lessee's interest declared forfeited. L. J. Lloyd applied for exemption from residence on section 6, block 15, Ohura, or otherwise permission to transfer without paying up rent remitted under the Bush and Swamp ActResolved that the Board has no present objection to a transfer being made, but rent conceded must be repaid. H. Halliwell, solicitor, wrote asking if the Board would require rent remitted uuder the Bush and Swamp Act to be paid if lessee admitted a partner.—Half amount of conceded rent to be paid in such cases.
GENERAL. The Under-Secretary forwarded a copy of a memo, from the Assistant-Secretary of the Public Works Department, asking that reduction might be made in rents for lands oul of which areas had been taken lor the Stratford-Ongarue railway and road diversions hi connection therewith.—Resolved that the titles be amended accordingly.
L. Biclieno wrote that Jlrs. C. 11. Box woultt be able to carry on section 14, block li2, Aria, if the rent in arrears were not demanded.—Left in the Commissioner's hands.
H. T. Twiss reported on the application of J. Wilks to transfer sections 2 and 3, block 10, Kapara, to H. J. Allison. —Refused, owing to conditions of personal residence not having been complied with. T. ilolloy had been offered the freehold of section 21, 'block li, Egmont, but bad not answered Uie letter.—Resolved that if the purchase be '.lot completed within one .month, the land be offered to public competition. 11. T. Twiss reported on the inspection of IS holdings. Three selectors had not done sufficient improvements.—The explanation of X C. Sadleir was accepted as satisfactory. The interests of J. F. \V. ami \V. K. Sixtus hi sections 2 and 7, block 1», ilahoc, will he declared forfeited.
JO. Tolme reported on the inspection of 23 holdings. Three selectors had not made sufficient improvements. Tho usual notice will be sent to those not complying. K. Tolme reported on the bush-felling and grassing done n;i seel ion 2, block 1, Piopiotea West, and value of land.— Adopted, and the land will be re-oll'ered for selection.
The ranger's report on sections 18, ]fl. 211. 22 and 23, lluirangi township, was referred to the chairman, with-(lower to act.
