THE WARATAH.

THE HAItLOW'S STORY EXAMINED. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyrigdi London, November 1. The Times states that Lloyds first determined not to publish the fuller report of the captain of the Harlow owing to the lack of substantiation, but privitt perusals aroused conjectures justifying the publication. A critical examination shows that if all was well the Waratah would be 100 miles from Cape Hermes at the tinie the Harlow'9 captain saw the explosion. But if an outbreak of lire occurred during the day the captain of the W«ratah would undoubtedly have retraced his course, hugging tie coast, in order to beach the steamer anil laud the passengers. This would explain the Clan Mclntyre and the Harlow sighting her, though not the Guelpb. Those disbelieving the Ilarlow'B narrative argue that if the burning Waratoh retraced her course she should have been sighted by the Clan Mlclntyre, which had been passed bound from Durlian earlier. The Times adds that if the explosions were only three miles off Cape Hermes it in strange nothing was heard at the lighthouse or that wreckage wasi found. It repeats the statement that owing to the difference of opinion between the captain and the officers as to whether what the Harlow saw was bush fires, and that owing to inquiries at Durban failing to show any ship overdue, the Harlow's captain did not report the incident till ho heard the Waratah wii overdue. STILL NO SIGN. Wellington, Last Night. I lie. lonic communicated by wireless nn 13th October with the steamer Ba•line, whieh is searching for the Waratah. . ie Sabine reported no sign of the milling vessel.
