FIRES.
A DISASTROUS OUTBREAK. By Telegraph.—Press Associatta. Christchurch, Last. Night. By a fire in the Spectator office in Cathedral Square, caused by benzine used' for cleaning a linotype becoming alight, George Cotton, foreman printer, ■was badly burned about the hands and face. The linotype machine, newly installed at a cost of about £85(1.' was totally destroyed, and the room in which the outbreak occurred was also destroyed. The building was insured for £3OO in the State office, and the contents in the Norwich Union for between £6OO and .€BOO. The building was leased by G. W. Russell, Limited.
