A QIT.KTIOX OF TASTE. To the Editor. Sir,—Noticing in your issue .of this morning the copy of the circular fovwariled by .Mr.' Daniel Berry to til" shareholders of Hie Taranaki Petroleum Cimipanv. in which he solicits their ■proxies. 1 shi.uld like to ask, seeing that Mr. Berry is. in a sens'e, still on his trinl, whether it is altogether m good taste on his part to adopt ,this course. It is a foregone conclusion i f Mr. Ui-rry receives sufficient proxies, whether he is in the right or in the wrong, that he will put. himself again on the directorate. 1 therefore contend that whilst the matter is still isub judice -Mr. Berry (or any of the directors', for that mutter) should not seek to obtain proxies. II had no intention of taking any active part at the annual meeting, but owing to the course Mr. Berry has seen proper-to adopt, 1 will be glad to receive proxies from any shareholders wlio may be unable to attend, and will vote according to the evidence that may be submitted to the meeting.— I am, etc.. | WILLIAM FENWICK -McALLUM. 22nd October,' 10011.
