TAKANAMi PETKOLEfM CO; At a meeting of the directors of the Taranaki Petroleum Company, held yesterday, it was decided to hold' the annual meeting of the company on 15th November, The annual report and balancesheet were passed for publication. A ballot was held between .Messrs. Carter, Kings-well and Okcy as to who should retire from the directorate, the choice falling on the two last-named. Sir,—Noticing in your issue .of this morning the copy of the circular fovwariled by .Mr.' Daniel Berry to til" shareholders of Hie Taranaki Petroleum Cimipanv. in which he solicits their ■proxies. 1 shi.uld like to ask, seeing that Mr. Berry is. in a sens'e, still on his trinl, whether it is altogether m good taste on his part to adopt ,this course. It is a foregone conclusion i f Mr. Ui-rry receives sufficient proxies, whether he is in the right or in the wrong, that he will put. himself again on the directorate. 1 therefore contend that whilst the matter is still isub judice -Mr. Berry (or any of the directors', for that mutter) should not seek to obtain proxies.
