WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.
-U the monthly meeting of the above Hoard there were present: Mr. S. Turnbull (chairman), Messrs. Connett, Hall, and Smith.
Correspondence' was read from Mr. 0. •I. Heriick, requesting permission to fence in piece of land at junction of Te Arai and W'aitara roads; also objecting to water being turned on his property Ironi Te Arei road; from the ValunGeneral, forwarding additions to valuations on account of new buildings erectid; and from Waitnra Harbor Board, requesting attendance, of chairman at a meeting to consider the question of rebuilding the W'aitara bridge. The clerk was directed to inform Mr. llcrrick that the Hoard has no power to give liioi permission to fence in the land mentioned.
Mr. Connett reported that he had arranged with (he louuty foreman to take metal (or repairs to Manutahi West road, and to replace same at Board's convenience.
The chairman reported that a portion of the metal on Eltham road required repairing, and the surfaceman was directed to get out the metal. Mr. Tate attended the meeting and requested that the Waitara Borough be asked to contribute to the upkeep of Mie Tate road. The clerk was instructed to write re same.
It was decided ,to hand over the sum of ,C 7 10s to the Moa Koad Board for expenditure on the Everett road.
Surfaceman Palmer reported tint land at end of Waitara road hail hen cleared; bridge on Cross road repaired and waterlables cleaned; a culvert on Karaka rond had fallen in, eight ]Sin pipes being required; 120 yards of metal is required for repairs to'To Arei road, approach' to .bridge on upper end of Kelly road requires tilling ill, and approach to York road bridge fencing. The ipipes for Karaka road were authorised to be procured. Surfaceman Giddy reported t'hat Jcf- | frey ami Co. had supplied 20 yards of metal for repairs to To Arei 'road it Sentry Hill; the lower end of llichmond road iu Lcpperton requires repairing, also the Corbett road. The clerk was directed to draw up , specifications for several contracts on district roads, and also to arrange with Mr. It. Tate re working the roadgrader.
Accounts were passed for payment and the iTioard adjourned.
