HALLEY'S COMET.

PHOTOGRAPHED FROM NAPIER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. Halley's comet was photographed last Thursday at Meeanee Observatory. The impression, however, was so extremely ,faint that its discovery was not made public. This (Tuesday) morning another attempt was made, increasing the exposure from one and a-half to two and a-hulf hours. This time the comet is clearly defined on the negative. Some time will elapse before tho comet is visible through even the largest telescopes. The exposure this morning began at a quarter past one o'clock and ended at a quarter to four, when the near approach of dawn rendered further work impossible.
