Miss Ella McKcnzic has succeeded Mrs. U. Pott as secretary to the L'ruti district nunic fund. Dr. Leatham is at present in Wellington, and during his absence Dr. Walker is acting-superintendent at the hospital. Mr. I l '. ,S. Naylor, ex-captain of the Penguin, has been appointed mate of the Maoriland Company's steamer Holmdal", Mr. R. F. Cornwall has been appointed one of the judges of Jerseys at t'ae forthcoming Canterbury A. and P. Society's show. Mr. H. Lambie, of Pihama, will be one of the judges of Ayrshircs. Dr. Leslie Poidevin (Sydney and London), the well-known cricketer, and Mr. Harry Parker, the Austral-New Zealand player, competed recently in an international lawn tennis tournament at Hamburg, and succeeded in winning the Stewart Cup, defeating iu the final two Australian players by three sets to two. Mr. C. Stevenson, late manager of the Cardiff Diary Company, who has been appointed to the stair of the Dairy Division, was entertained by the settlers of the district on Friday evening and presented with a gold chain and pendant suitably inscribed, a case of pipes, and gold-mounted cigar and cigarette-hold-ers.
