DR. COOK'S BONA FIDES.
PEARY CLUB ISSUES ANOTHER STATEMENT. FAKING ALLEGED. By Cable.—Press Association.—CopyriglJt Received 15, 10.25 p.m. New York, October 15. The Peary Arctic Club has issued another statement. Burrills, who accompanied. Dr. Cook to Mount McKinley, in a sworn affidavit, states that Dr. Cook was never nearer than 14 miles of the summit of the mountain. Burrills affirms that he "doctored" the diary at Dr. Cook's request. Miller, the photographer of the party, alleges that the photographs were faked. The men quarrelled with Dr. Cook Because, the latter did not pay them.
PEARY STATEMENT. NEWSPAPERS SCEPTICAL. DR. COOK RAKING IN THE DOLLARS Received 10, 0.15 a.m. New York, October 15. The Morning Post's Washington correspondent states Hint thn majority of newspapers receive Commander Pearr's statement regarding tlic Esquimaux with eeepticisin, believing that their evidence carries little if any conviction. Meanwhile Dr. Cook is making 2000 dollars nightly lecturing, while Commander Peary is earning nothing.
