OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN. tSy Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A conference of delegates from Societies for the Promotion of the lleal''a of Women and Children closed to-day. The name of the society was changed *o "The Society for the Health of Women and children." A resolution was passed expressing high appreciation of the work done for the Society by Lady Plunket. The next conference will be held at Dunedin in March. Lady Plunket gave an "At Home" this afternoon in connection with the Conference. There was a large attendance. A deputation from the Society waited on tlio Prime Minister to-day, asking fo r financial assistance. Sir Joseph Ward assured the deputation of his sympathy with the excellent work done" by the Society. He would do what he could but could not give a definite reply just now.
