WJiST'S PICTURES. The torrential rain which fell between seven and eight o'clock last night iffected the attendance at West's Pictures, but not the merit of the entertainment provided. Another entirely fresh and interesting programme wis given, th,. .star picture being the driniatic ill in "Drink," from the pen of E|inile Zola, This powerful drama, crammed into half an hour's pictures, was perhaps too '-solid," but therecou ii he no doubt of the wonderful portrayal of Ui c combined effects of absinthe and woman's .jealousy. The film, like every other film at West's, was splendidly shown. Among the remaining items' the most impressive was the winter scene in a Canadian lumber camp, a scries of pictures which were an education in themselves as to the mode of life b the Canadian backwoods, the felling of giant pines, their transport to the nearest great river, and the launching of the logs headlong down a steep incline into the river. Tlie " effects" were good, too, and an orchestra played capital nius'ic. West's Pictures return next Friday evening with a fresh programme.
