THOSE INSURANCE RENEWALS.
To the Editor. Sir,—L read with surprise the report of the last monthly .meeting of the Ttyanaki School Commissioners and the altitude taken'up by the secretary dun ig | the discussion of insurance matters. Are you conversant, Mr. Editor, with the duties for which the present secretary was appointed, as it is evident from his remarks at the recent meeting, "that he could take no roftponsilniiiy," etc.. that the Commissioners themselves are not too clear on the yubject. 1 am a lessee, and when mj insurance renewal premium wns recently paid 1 did not get the renewal receipt, certainly not. The policy being made out to the Commissioners, it would in the natural course of business oe sent to tiie secretary of the Board. What system could i)e simpler? Ami yet we have here a ipaid servant telling his employers that he will take no responsibility. llow long would this b.> countenanced by a private firm if I would like to ask the secretary how bank managers and other* who arc holders for actual value are able to keep their securities in order. Why, sir, it is a most unusual attitude for a secretary to a public body to adopt. Wake up. fellow lessees and the public generally, and have a voice in public matters of this kind.— I am, etc., LESSIiIS.
