AN ANARCHIST'S FATE. INFLUENTIAL APPEALS FOR A REPRIEVE. By Cable. —l'ress Association.—Copyright Received 14, 0.35 a.m. Madrid, October 13. A court-martial sentenced Ferrier, the anarchist, to death. The sentence was submitted to Madrid for confirmation. The Cabinet was unable to recommeid a pardon. Ten thousand workmen in Roine and five thousand socialists in Paris demonstrated against the execution. A petition from English pressmen an.l others was telegraphed to King Alfonso, Ferrier's daughter in Paris interviewed 11. Hriand (the Premier) and tcjegrapiied King Alfonso pleading for clemency. The newspaper Tribuna (Rome) gtatss that the Pope. is urging King Alfonso to revoke the sentence.
